I have a ACER Ferrari 4005 WLMi.
# Microsoft Windows XP Professional
# AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-37(1MB L2 cache, 2.0GHz)
Radeon Xpress 200M Chipset
# 1GB DDR333 SDRAM (upgradeable to 2 GB total)
# 100GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive (5400 rpm)
# Integrated DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive
# 5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard , Secure Digital card, Memory Stick , Memory Stick PRO or xD-Picture Card
# 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) TFT LCD, up to 16.7 million colors
# ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700 graphics, 128MB DDR memory

I tried to installed SUSE-10.0-EvalDVD-x86_64-GM into this system.

First I tried installing GNU/Linux into a USB hard drive, Never got to boot from that drive even though PhoenixBIOS™ 4.0 Release 6.0 says that it supports booting from a USB hard drive.

Then I decided to installing into the Ferrari hard drive, it went through the whole installation process it asked me to restart so I did, it restarted and went to the GRUB boot menu I chose SuSE started loading and all the suddenly it black screen to me. I restarted it a couple of time and the same thing happened all times then I recalled something about a video issue. SuSE[kernet] sets the LCD for my laptop as secondary display.

The computer has video if I connect a external monitor but no video on the LCD screen.

Anyone has had this issue?. How do I change that setting?.

I'll try loading the ATI drives [ATI Proprietary Linux x86_64 Display Driver]

I have the same problem with my Advent 7079 laptop.
The work around I am using for now is to configure it for VESA bios
that is the card is set to VESA bios
The display is set to the nearest VESA configuration, even f not exact.
My screen has a non-standard proportion so circles are ellipses, but at least
I can work.
Any idea how I can get a driver that works properly?
