Hi guys
on my Acer, linux run like a rocket, but does not blast the speakers...

I'v tried a new kernel 2.6.14, the HD intel does not move the realtek sound carte.(that's windows saying)

Is there any gourous wo know about the internal secret of the 1642 Lmi.
what for a chipset, port IRQ DMA... is there a way to adress it with sndconfig?

any advice would help.
Many thanks

I have the same problem than you. I also have an Acer 1642 LMi and I have not been able to make the sound works. Maybe we can work together to fit our problems.

I have installed ALSA and used XMMS and it seems to be playing the songs but I can not hear anything. Does it happen to you?

Besides, some keys don't work for me: the volume up and down keys, the euro and dollar keys and the WiFi and bluetooth keys.

By the way, have you configured wifi in your laptop? How have you done it?

Regards,
Gerardo

Update your drivers. You may have to use "very" new drivers for this to work. I have an HDAudio card made by Realtek, and luckily they have an updated driver on their website. My card would play on speakers, but not through headphone channel. You might be able to use realtek drivers, or build a very new kernel to get support. Check your distro's forums and bugtracker for the most relevant fixes.
