Thanks!! mantralapse 04-11-2006, 07:37 PM hello, I have a HP Laptop, formally a windows user, been using linux for about a week now. i always had a dual boot setup with fc3 and xp. but recently windows pissed me off ******** so i upgraded to fedora core 5 and went 100% linux! I have a HP Pavilion zx5295us (pretty rare i believe) ati mobility 9600 m10, 128 MB (using ati fglrx-smp driver) 512 sodimm ddr ram, dual channel pentium 4, dual core clocked at 3.02GHz (it runs pretty hot) got my pcmcia 7.1 surround sound card working, creative audigy2 zs using Fedora Core 5 with the 2.6.16.1-smp kernel i have added support for ntfs-smp, fglrx-smp and installed some nitfy programs like mplayer... (followed a tut on google, searched fedora 5 tips & tricks) so i think iam at a good start, but there are some features i havent got to work yet. 1- TV-Out using S-Video... I use this alot for watching movies and powerpoints. 2- On my laptop i have a large assortment of quick buttons like, "www" for webbrowser, right now it is loading the battery charge indicator??. 3- also have a standby button that works but when i come out of standby my monitor is never turned back on, then i have to hard boot. whats up with that? 4- i have a play/puase, stop, next song, previous song buttons i would like to get working 5- i have a volume up, volume down, and mute button i would like to get working 6- last thing, on my external harddrive, which is formated NTFS, i can play files in ROOT but not my non-root account... its the permissions, but linux fails to change the permissions. I am going to try changing them in windows, havent yet though. If any one could help me out with any of these issues i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Mantralapse |
