Please note that i am not an expert....I am more of a computer cretin..however,after becoming totally fed -up with microsoft, I switched to Ubuntu 5
which ran really well.
When the latest version of Ubuntu(version6) became available, i tried to install it ...and failed!
I have tried re-formatting the HD, and then trying to install....fail!
I tried two more CD's, in case they were faulty........fail!
I tried "disk check" and am told the disks are good!
I can re- install Ubuntu5,with no problem...and I am running on that OS now.
I am happy to stay with version 5, but there are some applications which I would like to use which will work only on version6....
Is there anyone out there who can take me by the hand and gently lead me through a process which will get Ubuntu6 onto my laptop?

Hello ... Can you describe that problem more detaily? What message you receive during instalation? Can you even get to the command line after that?

Also we need the list, what kind of hardware you have so type this : #lspci ... in you current version of UBUNTU, paste-it here and we can start with investigation.
