I want to install redhat8.0 on my HP Compaq nx 6110 series laptop .but whenever i boot my laptop with redhat8.0 image CD it shows following message and installation do not proceed .

kernal panic
bug at apic.c

kindly tell me the remedy

Yes use a boot parameter such as
noapic nolapic
noapictimer
acpi=off
irqpoll

Also, get a BIOS upgrade from vendor website

BIOS upgrade will help -- then you may not need boot param any more

I am unable to find BIOS upgrade for HP compaq 6110 nx laptop to install redhat 8.0 linux on it.As it is giving problem like "kernel bug at apic.c"

Did you add the boot parameter?

at the grub menu, select the kernel you want to boot, and hit "a" for "append"

It will display the boot parameters for that kernel, just add the word "noapic" at the end of the line and hit enter.

(Check the Red Hat manual -- but I think that's how you add boot parameters in Red Hat
If that doesn't work, try the other ones I suggested)

I have used the option of typing 'noapic' as boot parameter during installation but still it does not work.it showa kernel image not available for this parameter .

i want to install redhat 8.0 on my laptop but it start ok then give message like

in idle task - not syncic kernel
i try to solve this prpolem by press<f4> and then
boot:linux noapic
but the proplem is not solved please if any one can help me..............
