Default Acer battery status not working

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 3613 laptop (3610 series).

I put on that UHU linux (the best linux distro supporting my native language - hungarian).
(kernel 2.6.9)

I can make work practically everything, except that the ACPI seems to work just partly.

So there are several items in the /proc/acpi directories, but e.g. /proc/acpi/battery is empty, so the programs cannot reach the state of the battery.

I have read a lot af docs about the ACPI support under linux, but I simply have no idea how to close to this problem. Is there anybody here who can give me advices how to solve this? (Except to choose another distro or other wise things...)

The most important goal would be that the battery status should be monitored and warn me before the complete discharging.

Thank you:
cs.

There are some bugs in ACPI which cause issues like this in some laptops. The method for polling such information has changed in kernel 2.6.14. There are patches available for earlier kernels. This can really affect stability if not dealt with. Check out this bug, it might be relevant to you:

Lightbulb try this

This worked on my Acer Aspire 3613: add ec_burst=1 to the kernel options
