Default Gericom Hummer 30680 XL no text mode with RHE 4

Hello,

in the past I had very often problems with X but never with the text mode. Today I tried to install Red Hat Enterprise 4.0. Everything works fine but I can not switch to a working text mode sessions (CTRL+ALT+F1).

The screen shows a lot of fast scrolling characters if I do so.

It seems that the refresh frequency in text mode is not set correctly!?

Is there anybody having an idea how to configure refresh rate for text mode?

SuSE Linux 10 works on the same machine absolute correct and I have no idea about what's going on with that.

kind regards
Gerald

Default try vga= parameter

In your grub.conf file put "vga=791" or "vga=792" (or try various other vga options). One of them should make it work. You will need to reboot to try all of these options.
