Default gateway 1450 runs when the lid is closed

I had this problem in the past with various distros. I haven't had it happen recently with ubuntu, kanotix, or fedora. I did notice it with SuSE, and Xandros. If I power down via the logoff options, the laptop does shut down, but as soon as I shut the lid down, it powers back up. I have to press the power button when it comes back on then the laptop will stay off after I close the lid. Can anyone tell me if there is a script I can use, and where to place it on the system? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Buggy BIOS

Maybe you try to give the kernel acpi=off before booting.
Or try noapic. The most system give you a help screen pressing F1 or something in GRUB to solve this problems.
